Our Haiti fundraiser was over the roof we raised $793.00 for the people of Haiti suffering after the earthquakes.
The junior high students are finished their midterm exams for another year.
This past weekend students Caylie Blake, Abigail Companion, Brooklynn Companion, Olivia Park and Jasmine Penney participated in the Western Regional Figure Skating Championship held in Corner Brook. Several of our students also won awards. Caylie Blake won gold in the Pre-Preliminary Category for 7 years and under, Olivia Park won silver in the Pre-Preliminary Category for 8 years and under, and Jasmine Penney won silver in the Pre-Juvenile ladies category. Jasmine Penney was also the recipient of the Andy Joy Cup for the most artistic performance of the competition. Jasmine also sang “O’ Canada” at the opening ceremonies.
This past week an Under 12 Girls Basketball Team started. The team is busy practicing and hoping to play other teams in Corner Brook.
On Monday, Tara Manuel came to our school and presented a puppet show called “Shadowy Souls” to the Junior Kindergarten class to the grade 6 class. Everyone enjoyed the show. It was full of laughs.
Class News
The Junior Kindergarten classes are still working on the letter “F”, the number “4” and are making valentines.
The Kindergarten class has classroom jobs and is welcoming a new student, Sierra Breen.
The Grade 1 class is learning in science how things change and are learning to count in multiples of 5 and 10.
The Grade 2 class has a new research project and are starting “star of the week” this week.
The Grade 3 and 4 class is excited to welcome a new student named Stephen Barnes to their class. They celebrated their teacher’s birthday yesterday. The grade 4 class took part in a hygiene presentation from the public health nurses.
The Grade 5 and 6 class welcomes two new grade 6 students Daniel Breen and Christopher Barnes. They began the D.A. R. E. program with Constable Kelly last Monday. They also had presentations from the public health nurses.
The Junior High class is in St. John’s today. They are finally on their Lego Robotics trip. Today they are visiting the Johnson Geocentre and the Rooms and the competition begins tomorrow in Mount Pearl. Good Luck!
Coming-Up
The Student Leadership Council is hosting a cookie sale on Feb. 3. Cookies are $0.25 and all proceeds will go to the library fundraiser.
The Student Leadership Council is selling chocolate hearts for Valentines Day from Feb 5 to 10. Chocolates will be delivered on February 12.
Report cards are going home on February 10 and parent teacher interviews are on February 11 from 7-8:30.
