The Scholastic Book Fair was a big success. We raised over $1200 for our learning resource room!
On Friday we had an assembly for Zubia Mahmood who was the grade 7-9 provincial winner for the Foster Families Essay contest.
On Monday we celebrated Halloween with class parties and a costume parade in the gym. Everyone had a nice costume!
On Tuesday we had a prayer service for All Saints Day. Thank you to Mrs. Coleman and the prayer group for leading the service.
On Wednesday we had a practice lock down with the RNC. All classes did great being really quiet! Also on Wednesday there was a foster families presentation with Amy Kendall in our gymnasium for the primary and elementary classes.
The Student Leadership Council raised over $150 for the Haiti Well with their cookie and popcorn sales last week. We are still collecting pennies for the Haiti Well.
We have lots of used cell phones, but we are still collecting more for the “recycle my cell” contest.
The grade 1 classes have begun Operation Christmas Child. They are collecting small items such as toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and hard candies to pack in boxes to send to children for Christmas.Stars of the Week
Congratulations to Ms. Morrall and Ms. Bennet’s classes who both won the book fair door decorating prize. There were a lot of great doors.
Congratulations to the winners of the costume contest, they were: Gabriel Rowsell in JK, Rebecca Janes in Kindergarten, Alessandra and Arabella LeBlanc in grade 1, Megan Williams in grade 2, Clara Ryan for grade 3 and 4, MacKenzie Brothers for grades 5 and 6, and Brian MacKenzie for junior/senior high. Also, the prize for most creative went to Derek Atwood.

The junior kindergarten classes are doing Remembrance Day crafts and activities. They are also decorating cupcakes.
Mme. Wight’s Kindergarten French Immersion class is planting beans and doing numbers in math.
Ms. Morrall’s Kindergarten English class is very excited about winning the door decorating contest. They are also planting beans and doing experiments in science.
Ms. Dwyer’s Kindergarten English class is doing an itsy bitsy book on the letter “f”. They are also starting to talk about animals and learning how to work in groups.
Mme. Perez-Diaz’s grade one French Immersion class is learning the importance of Remembrance Day. They are excited to be starting Operation Christmas child this week. In math they are comparing groups.
Mrs. George’s grade one English class is doing fall crafts and learning about estimation in math.
Ms. Park’s grade two class made math robots. They are beginning a new unit in science this week.
Ms. Bennett’s grade three and four class had a great time at their Halloween party. They are excited about getting new seats.
Mrs. McCarthy’s grade five and six class had a science test this week. The grade 5’s are writing letters of nomination for the “grammy” awards and the grade 6’s are writing peace week speeches.
Mr. Hancock’s junior high and level 1 class is working on a Remembrance Day poster contest. They are hoping for good weather this weekend for their leaf raking day. The grade 6-9 leaf raking fundraiser is going ahead this Saturday from 9 am – 4 pm. Please contact the school if you would like your lawn raked.
On Sunday at 3 pm there will be a puppet show called “St. George and the Dragon” held by Ms. Tara Manual in aid of the playground project. Everyone is welcome!
On Tuesday there will be a school wide breakfast from 7:45 to 8:20 am.
The basketball team will be collecting recyclables on November 19th to raise money for new equipment.
