Season’s greetings from students and staff at Immaculate
Heart of Mary School. This week has been a lot of fun and we cannot wait for
Christmas Day!
On Monday, Mme. Mondoux’s class lit the third candle for
Advent. Monday afternoon, our Chamber Choir sang at the Seniors’ Complex. We
would like to thank our families who gave so generously to the Stockings for
Seniors Campaign.
On Tuesday morning, the Knights of Columbus sponsored a
skating party for our school, renting both rink surfaces and providing snacks.
We would like to thank them for their generosity as well as the many families
who joined us.
Hailey Colbourne was our Grade 6 representative who helped
with the RNC annual Food Drive. Hailey, along with other students in the city
helped the RNC with collecting the items from local schools and delivering them
to the Food Bank. We would like to thank our I.H.M.S. families and all families
who donated to the Food Drive.
On Wednesday morning, staff hosted a school wide hot
breakfast. We would like to thank our teachers as well as members of the
Coleman’s Western Kings’ Hockey Team who helped serve!
Caylie Blake, Anna Brake, Claire Brake, Olivia Park and
Abigail Woodford participated in the Silver Blades Christmas Simulations Sunday
evening. Great skate, girls!
Saturday and Sunday evening, Keely Brothers, Mackenzie
Brothers, Avery Brothers, Anna MacKenzie, Maria Reynolds and Hannah Sparkes
performed in the Bay of Islands Children’s Chorus. Great Job!
The Toy Drive ended today and we would like to thank
everyone for their support of the Toy Drive.
Today is Christmas Character Theme Day!

Class News
The Junior Kindergarten: These students have spent the week
getting into the Christmas spirit! Students in the J.K. program have been
making cards, baking cookies, and preparing for the Variety Show!
Mrs. Hodder’s English Kindergarten class: These students had
a great week of classes and are getting prepared for the upcoming holidays.
Mme. Perez-Diaz’s French Immersion Kindergarten class: In
this class the students have been creating all sorts of Christmas fun! In Math
they are making Christmas patterns and in French are learning about Christmas
Poetry.
Mme. Mondoux’s Grade One and Two French Immersion class: These
students have been practicing for the Variety Show and creating Christmas
crafts.
Mrs. George’s Grade One English class: This class is playing
some Christmas Math games this week. They are learning about Mary, Joseph and
Gabriel in Religion class. They are really excited to perform at the Variety
Show this morning! They would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas!
Ms. Park’s Grade Two class: These students had a very busy
week! They wrote about gifts for baby Jesus, made reindeer crafts, made
pictographs in Math, and read “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
Ms. Payne’s Grade Three and Four class: These students are very happy to announce that they were the recipients
of the 12 days of Christmas act from Ms. Autumn Gale. Autumn has been
performing many acts of kindness this holiday season for the 12 days of
Christmas. The class was very excited to hear of all her acts of kindness,
including donating her hair to cancer, leaving a gift for the mailman, giving
blood, bringing dog treats to the SPCA and much more. Autumn chose Ms. Payne’s
class for an act of kindness and donated the book, “The Incredibles" to
each student. The grade 3/4 class would like to thank Autumn for her wonderful
gift and generosity during this special time of year!
Ms. Neary’s Grade Five and Six class: These student were
working hard this week. They completed tests and are now looking forward to
their Christmas vacation that starts noon today!
Mr. Hancock’s Junior High and Level One class: These
students are also preparing for the upcoming Christmas break. They are really
excited for the Variety Show this morning.
