Colin Spencer and Jacob Bursey, Alyssa Taylor and MaKayla Ianni from Ms. Park’s Grade2 Class hold chicks that hatched from incubated eggs. Their class have been taking care of these eggs over the past few weeks.

 
June is almost here and students and staff of Immaculate Heart of Mary School have been practicing and performing their spring musical “Cinderella.” We would like to thank Mr. Gary Graham and the I.H.M.S staff for the work they did with students to prepare the play. We would also like to thank Mr. Glenn Simms for painting our set. Thank you to Mr. Max Simms who provided the sound equipment and Mr. Scott Reynolds for the beautiful programs. We would finally like to thank our loving families for all of their support (see pictures below).


 


   
 
 



 
 

 
 
 




 
 


This week the Grade 3’s and Grade 6’s have been very busy writing their Provincial Language Arts Assessment. They will write their Math Assessment next week.
  
The 19 chicks that have been taken care of by the Grade Two class left on Monday. They are gone to a farm in Hughes Brook.
  
The Junior High Students participated in a Virtual Media Festival on Tuesday morning. All of our classes watched the live feed. Hajra Ahmad, Will Goodridge, Sarah Ismail, Arshia Kazerouni and Hannah Sparkes participated in the Photography Category, Nathan Anderson and Douglas MacKenzie participated in the Animation Division. We had two teams in Videography who produced and made a video on the environment. The two teams consisted of MacKenzie Brothers and Maria Reynolds, Zubia Mahmood and Claire Reynolds.
  
The Boys’ Soccer Team played an exhibition on Tuesday at St. Gerard.
  
We would like to thank Msgr. Gale for the beautiful service on Sunday morning for Avery Brothers, Jacob Bursey, Clare Coleman, Heather Cooper, MaKayla Ianni, Aria Kazerouni, and Colin Spencer, who received their First Holy Communion. We would like to thank the parents and families for sharing in the celebration.
  
We would like to thank Mr. Dave Jennings and Mrs. Robyn Dillman from the Department of Agriculture who did some planting in our Greenhouse this week. We would like to thank the Department of Agriculture for their generous start up donations!
  
Today we are collecting for the Janeway Telethon. Classes will be placing their donations in the Wishing Well located in the Main Entrance.
  
Upcoming Events
  
On Monday, June 3rd, our school will be holding an Art Exhibit. This art show will consist of students’ work from this year and will take place 6:30p.m.-7:30p.m.
  
The Grade 3 Reconciliation will take place on Wednesday, June 5th at All Hallow’s Church starting at 7:00p.m.
  
Next week the Kindergarten Graduation will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 6:00p.m. in our gymnasium.  
 
The Junior Kindergarten: The children have been learning their numbers, getting ready for the play and Art Show.
  
Mrs. Hodder’s English Kindergarten class: These students had fun performing in “Cinderella” and are learning to tell time to the hour.
  
Mme. Pérez-Diaz’s French Immersion Kindergarten class: This week, the students are counting sets of numbers up to 7 and learning how to subtract. They are practicing how to say what they want to be when they grow up for their graduation. They are also reviewing all the letters in the alphabet.
  
Mme. Mondoux’s Grade One and Two French Immersion class: These students are studying movement in Science and observing our butterflies daily. The butterflies are starting to silk and turn into chrysalis.
  
Mrs. George’s Grade One English class: The Grade One Class is working on a special writing project called “Wonderful Me.” They are now finished their spelling tests for the year! Every student did a fabulous job! In Math, they are adding and subtracting larger numbers. They had a GREAT time performing in “Cinderella” this week.
  
Ms. Park’s Grade Two class: The Grade 2 English class finished learning about the life cycle of a chicken. They had 19 little chicks hatch! They are making shapely critters in Art to go along with their Math lessons.
   
Ms. Payne’s Grade Three and Four Class: These students are preparing for their year end Art Show. They have been doing “fun Math games” since both grades have completed their Math objectives.
  
Ms. Neary’s Grade Five and Six Class: Grade 5/6 students had a great time performing in the spring musical. They are now practicing hard in Band for the year end assembly.
  
Mr. Hancock’s Junior High Class: The Junior High Students had a great time performing in “Cinderella.” They were really happy to share their hard work from the Virtual Reality contest with the rest of the school.
