Winners in the grades
three to six IHMS Spelling Bee. (L-R): Paige Walsh, Colin Spencer, Reyd Ward
and Amna Ahmad.
Summer
break has officially begun for students at IHMS. We had a very busy end to our
school year this week.
On
Monday we had our annual end of the year spelling bee. Congratulations to our
grades three to six students on a f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c spelling bee. The overall
winner in grade three was Reyd Ward, in grade four the winner was Colin
Spencer, in grade five the winner was Amna Ahmad and in grade six the winner
was Paige Walsh.
In
the afternoon on Monday we enjoyed a “wet” sports event full of games that got
everyone moving and cooled off. Thank you to Mr. Ryley Nadon and the junior
high to level 1 students who organized the event.
On
Tuesday we had our final pancake breakfast as a school community. Thank you to
Mrs. King, Mme. Lachance, Mrs. George, Ms. Park, Mrs. Vincent, Ms. Perrett, and
Mme. Ryan for helping to prepare the yummy breakfast. In the afternoon the
Student Leadership Council hosted our last talent show for the year. We had
singing, dancing, gymnastics, piano playing, joke telling, acting, and even a
clown show! We would like to thank Coleman’s for the donation of the cakes in
celebration of “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat”.
Author
of “I Am A Survivor”, Lorraine Kocot, visited our grades three to six classes
on Tuesday to read from her book and talk to the students about bullying. Her
message was about helping others and what to do if someone is being a bully.
On
our last day of school we celebrated Mass with Father Terry, held our end of
year awards assembly and received our final report cards. Our school bands
performed during our end of year award’s assembly. We would like to say a
special thank you to our student band conductors Hajra Ahmad, Makenzy Bishop
and Maria Reynolds.
Our
school hosted our annual volunteer appreciation breakfast on Thursday morning.
We would like to thank our many volunteers for their hard work and dedication
to our school throughout the year.
Last
weekend a team of volunteers worked on our school grounds to prune and weed our
flower beds and shrubbery. Thank you to Marjorie Deckert, Lisa and Robert
Morrissey, Terry Janes, Peter Buckingham, Michael Walsh and John Cammie for
donating your time and skills.
We
would like to thank Buckle’s Bussing for their support of our school this year.
We
wish everyone a safe and happy summer. See you in September!
