Maria Reynolds is presented the Jérémie Bélanger Memorial Award by Mr. Drew Nadon (left) and Mr. Ryley Nadon (right). This award is presented in memory of Jérémie Bélanger, to an individual who possess a positive attitude inside and outside the classroom. It is for someone who is always demonstrating a willingness to help others; while excelling both academically and athletically.

Max Chrappa with his teacher Mrs. Angel McCarthy. Max was the regional and provincial grade 7 winner in the YMCA Community Matters essay contest for his business essay "Green Pool". 


Grade three student, Gemma Butler, is presented her provincial prize in the World Ocean's Day Poster Contest by her teacher Ms. Kimberly Crocker.


Isabelle Mercier, grade four winner; Isaac Buckingham, grade six winner; Colin Spencer, grade five winner; and Natalie Parsons, grade four winner in the IHMS year end Elementary Spelling Bee.



Last week many of our classes had their end of year field trips. The kindergarten to grade two students went bowling, the grade three and four English and French classes had a pyjama and movie day, and the grade five and six class visited the Corner Brook Museum and the City Library.

Last Friday we hosted our school art show in the gym. All of our classes posted some of their best artwork from this past year. Thank you to the parents and family members who came to see the artwork on display.

The Elementary School Spelling Bee was held in our cafeteria on Monday morning. Students and staff wore black and yellow to celebrate the spelling bee. Students in grades four, five, and six were challenged to spell some very difficult words. In grade four Natalie Parsons and Isabelle Mercier were the overall winners, in grade five Colin Spencer was the overall winner, and in grade six the overall winner was Isaac Buckingham.

Mr. Ryley and the junior and senior high class organized our sports day on Monday. It was a lot of fun. All classes participated in the stations around the school. It was a full afternoon of activity.

The last full day of school was on Tuesday. We celebrated with a school wide pancake breakfast. Thank you to Mrs. King and the teachers who helped to serve pancakes. In the afternoon the Student Leadership Council hosted a variety show. The show featured over 30 acts by some of our amazing and talented students and teachers.

School closed on Wednesday at noon. We celebrated Mass at All Hallows with Bishop Hundt followed by our year end school assembly.

Thursday morning we held our annual volunteer breakfast to honour the people who volunteered their time at IHMS to make this another amazing year. Thank you for all you do.

Congratulations to our YMCA Create A Logo classroom winners. In grade four: first place was Keira Clarke, second place was Rebecca Janes, and third place was Natalie Parsons; in grade five: first place was Simon Boitsefski, second palce was Clare Coleman, and third place was Colin Spencer, in grade six: first place was Ryan Bennett, second place was Jack Richardson, and third place was Kori Noel.

Congratulations to our YMCA Market Your Thoughts Essay contest winners. In grade seven: first place was Max Chrappa, second place was Myles Calbert, third place was Jordan Park; in grade eight: first place was Anna MacKenzie, second place was Madison Noel, and third place was Cameron Peddle; in grade nine: first place was Ryan Miller, second place was José Garcia, and third place was Rebekah Calbert.

Congratulations to Max Chrappa who was the grade seven first place regional winner and the first place provincial winner!

Stars of the Week

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Dillman who received her yellow stripe belt last week in Tae Kwon Do.

Class News

The junior kindergarten classes would like to wish everyone a wonderful and safe summer. They all had a great year!

Mme. Foley’s Kindergarten French Immersion class had a great year in kindergarten French Immersion. They wish everyone a wonderful summer break!

Mrs. Hodder’s Kindergarten English class had a great day participating in sports day, especially the water games. They enjoyed watching the variety show on Tuesday and would like to wish all a safe and adventurous summer.

Mrs. George’s grade one English class had the most awesome year! They worked hard, learned so much and made many wonderful memories and friendships. Though saying goodbye is really hard, they are looking forward to a well deserved break. They want to wish everybody a happy, fun and safe summer! 

Mme. Ryan’s grade one and two French Immersion class had a lot of fun during the sports day, everyone is excited to bring their pumpkin plants home for their home gardens. They are all ready for a safe, happy and healthy summer!

Ms. Park’s grade two class finished up some year end activities this week. They wrote about the things they are going to be doing this summer and made a cute craft to go along with it.  They had so much fun on Sports Day and watching the talent show on Tuesday. Have a wonderful summer, everyone!

Mme. Moss’ grade three, four and five French Immersion enjoyed their French culture day, had a blast at sports day. They ended off the week with a little class party! Passez un Bon été!

Ms. Crocker’s grade three and four class had a great sports day today and had a lot of fun watching the talent show.

Mrs. McCarthy’s grade five and six class had a great last week of school. The class had a lot of fun at the water activities during sports day. They would like to wish everyone a great summer vacation.

Mr. Drew Nadon’s junior high to level two class said goodbye to the Brazilian and Mexican exchange students last week on Friday afternoon with a special celebration. Students finished their final exams on Monday.
