Students received their First Reconciliation on Monday evening at All Hallows with Father Terry. Congratulations to Brooklyn Pittman, Jamie White-Robertson, Rotém Philips Grobbelaar, Robert Morrissey, Noah Wall, Jacob Cull, Uriah Cull, Liam Couture. Thank you to Mrs. English, Mrs. Dicks, Mrs. King for volunteering with the service and to Mrs. George who prepared the students.
Students preparing to receive their First Holy Communion took part in a special celebration on Tuesday evening with Mrs. Coleman in the school chapel. The First Holy Communion is this Sunday at All Hallows.
The Student Leadership Council organized theme days for Spirit Week . It began on Monday with Character Day, then Wacky Wednesday, Throwback Thursday and Formal Friday. It was a lot of fun to see everyone’s costumes!
Our school public health nurse, Mrs. Lynette Christopher, visited the school this week to present to grade one on dental hygiene and grade seven on body image.
Our entire school has been busy preparing for the musical, Brundibar. The show will be performed on June 13 and 14th.

Class News
The junior kindergarten classes are making special gifts for Father’s Day and practicing for the school musical.
Mrs. Hodder’s Kindergarten English class enjoyed the spirit week activities. They examined their worm casting in the greenhouse from their worm compost. They sampled some traditional foods eating during the Ramadan tradition.
Mrs. George’s grade one English class is busy getting ready for the science fair. They have three really neat experiments. They are finishing off their last unit in math.
Mme. Ryan’s grade one and two French Immersion class is happy to report that the lettuce in their aquaponics garden has started to sprout its second leaves or true leaves. They concluded their science unit on living things this week and made an art project inspired by the insects they discussed.
Ms. Cunning’s grade two English class is very excited for their classmates who will celebrate their First Holy Communion on Sunday morning. They are preparing for the science fair next week by doing experiments.
Mme. Moss’ grade three, four, five and six French Immersion class is excited about the upcoming science fair. The grade three and four students are diving into their final unit of math and the grade five and six students are preparing to start a series of experiments related to combining states of matter.
Mrs. Bishop’s grade three class has finished their geometry unit in math. They learned all about 2D and 3D shapes, which they have incorporated into their drawing and building structures.
Ms. Guy’s grade four class found out this week that their “k group” tomatoes spent six weeks in space as seeds. They were very excited because they discovered that the group of seeds actually grew faster.
Mr. Ryley’s grade five class is finishing their final preparations for the STEM expo. They are also concluding their unit on their properties and changes in materials unit.
Mrs. McCarthy’s grade six class is learning about vertebrates and invertebrates. In math they are learning about equilaterals, isosceles, and scalene triangles.
Mr. Drew Nadon’s grade seven and eight class enjoyed the spirit week! They completed their novel study on City of Ember this week with some investigation into the author’s use of darkness as a symbol throughout the novel.
Mr. Hancock’s grade nine to level three class is preparing for final exams and the upcoming Level III graduation. Science 1206 students are studying weather systems and cloud types. Chemistry 2202 students are continuing their study of organic chemistry.
Coming Up
School Science Fair on June 4th.
Kindergarten Graduation is June 7 at 6:00 pm and High School Graduation is June 8 at 5:00 pm.
The IHMS School Musical Brundibar will be performed on June 13th and 14th at 6:30 pm.
Agriculture Spring Fling is moved to June 18th because of a late harvest.
