Kindergarten student’s visit Colemans for nutrition month

Kindergarten student’s paid a visit to Colemans for nutrition month with Dietitian, Mrs. Heather Allen Joyce.

The girl’s basketball tournament last weekend was great. They played really well. There were awards given for the player of the game for each game. Carla Du Toit, Abigail Companion and Claire Reynolds won these awards. Congratulations to the whole team.

Also on Wednesday the girl’s basketball team played the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary team. The girls won by only one point with a score of 41 to 40. It was a very fun and exciting game for everyone.

Last Saturday the Corner Brook Winter Carnival held “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” Nicole Keeping went and represented our school. She correctly answered a lot of the questions and helped many adults win money.

Congratulations go out to Caylie Blake, Olivia Park and Anna Brake who participated in a skating competition last weekend in Clarenville. Anna Brake won a gold medal in stage 7. Also Keely Brothers participated in her first gymnastics competition and Carla Du Toit won a medal at the Snow Stars festival skiing race. Congratulations to all of you.

Wednesday was World Math day. Students celebrated by playing math games and making math crafts.

This week is milk spirit week. Students are participating in milk related activities such as a milk carton treasure hunt and a “moo-off” today.

Class News
The Junior Kindergarten classes had fun celebrating world math day by doing sequencing, patterning and weighing things in science. Jack and Avery are representing the JK classes in the moo-off today.

The Kindergarten class enjoyed their field trip to Colemans for nutrition month. They are making cats in art class.

The Grade 1 class is working on activities for St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. Ms. Bennet’s supervisor came to talk to the class on Wednesday.

The Grade 2 class is having fun making things with clay. They are all finished their Olympic medal tally.

The grade 3 and 4 class is finishing up the mini-Olympics in math class and having fun making menus in language class.

The Grade 5 and 6 class is working on the YMCA logo contest and learning about metaphors in language class.

The Junior High class is busy solving construction problems. They are making the finishing touches on their Popsicle stick bridges. The National Engineering and Geoscience bridge building competition is on Saturday at 10 am in the Corner Brook Plaza. Their bridges will be tested to see how much weight they will hold without breaking. Good luck and have fun.

Coming-Up
Tomorrow is our school’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Pot Luck from 5-7 pm we hope to see everyone wearing lots of green!

Next week is Education week. All classes will be participating in special activities to celebrate.

Tuesday is Reconciliation for grades 3 to 9 at All Hallows Parish.

On Thursday there will be a pre-festival showcase for students and parents at 1:50.

Moo-ooo drink milk and be healthy straight from the mini-reporters.
