J.K. Students participate in National Flag Day
Staff and students of Immaculate Heart of Mary School are continuing to
enjoy winter activities and having some winter carnival fun of their own.
On Friday, our school held an Assembly for National Flag Day. The
Knights of Columbus has initiated a National Flag Day Project promoting
patriotism. It is their goal to present every school in the country with a
Canada Flag. Our school was the first school in the country to be presented a
Canadian Flag. Each homeroom represented a different province or territory, and
presented facts about each place. The Knights of Columbus formed an honour
guard as our students paraded in the gym carrying flags and banners from their
province or territory. We would like to thank; Mr. Joe Byrne, Mr.Kevin Dunphy,
Mr. Leo Fagan, Mr. Paul Gillingham, Mr. Gord Lannon, Mr. Mike Leonard, and Mr.
Garland Parsons who represented the 4th Degree of The Knights of
Columbus.
We would also like to thank Will Goodridge and Claire Reynolds who
did a great job emceeing. Jasmine Batstone (Kdgt. English) and Riley Power
(Kdgt. French Immersion) accepted the Canadian Flag presented by Mr. Gord
Lannon. Maria Reynolds and Hannah Sparkes were flag bearers in the honour
guard,
