Grade 5/6 students enjoy a Yoga session with Ms. Jessi Martin

This week students and staff of Immaculate Heart of Mary School are preparing for Easter Break.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Junior High student, Arshia Kazerouni!

We would like to welcome Paige Marche-Sherran, a student from the College of North Atlantic, who is doing a work placement in the J.K. class.

Apple Day sponsored by the Kids Eat Smart Program was on Friday. All students hung their apple on the Apple Tree which is located in the cafeteria. Many thanks to Mrs. George for making the tree! In the Breakfast Program, we served a variety of apples, vanilla and strawberry apple parfaits and apples muffins. There were different contests and prizes were awarded.

On Friday we also celebrated Earth Hour from 9:30 a.m.-10:30a.m. where all classrooms lights, computers, and Smart Boards were shut off!

Keely Brothers, Olivia Park, Gina Spencer and Alex Williams delivered to the bank the $875 in pennies which we collected in aid of the Greenhouse. We would like to thank the Royal Bank which supplied the penny rolls and penny boxes. We are still rolling pennies. If you have some, please bring them in. We would like to thank our staff, students and our families for supporting the Cookie and Muffin Dough Fundraiser which raised almost $2,100 for the Greenhouse Project.

For the past two week Thursdays, Jessi Martin did a Yoga session with our Grade 5/6 class. Everyone really enjoyed it!

Last Friday, Junior High students participated in a public health session on the dangers of Drugs and Alcohol. On Wednesday, our J.K. classes participated in a public health session on tooth brushing and our Grade One classes had a dental session with the public health nurse.

The Grade 7 Girls’ Basketball Team played a game against Xavier on Wednesday afternoon.

Our students took in a performance of the Easter Passion by our Prayer Group students. We would to thank Mrs. Coleman and the member of the Prayer Group.

Congratulations are extended to MacKenzie Brothers whose Cheerleading Team won a silver medal last weekend in Halifax!

The Crunch and Sip Campaign ends today but we are hoping that everyone will continue to crunch and sip for a healthy life style.

We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter Holiday!
