On
Tuesday the grade five and six class went on a field trip to Margaret Bowater
Park for national Forest Week opening. They learned about different types of
trees, firefighting, search and rescue, and insects.
On
Wednesday the whole school planted perennials and trees outside the greenhouse.
Thank you to all the families who donated plants. Also, we would like to send a
big thank you to Mr. Dave Smith and his team for his help in organizing the
planting, and to the Department of Forestry who donated seedlings for our
students to plant.
On
Thursday the school held a Terry Fox walk and each student donated a dollar.
Also on Thursday there was curriculum night in the gym for parents and teachers.

to Keira Clarke who donated a braid of her hair for cancer patients.
Congratulations
to our cross country runners: Isaac Buckingham, Colin Spencer, Heather Cooper,
Aria Kazerouni, Jack Ryan, Lucas Neville, Ryan Murphy, Sam Antle, Clara Ryan,
Telicia Young, and Chloe Colbourne for achieving personal bests at this week’s
track meet at J.J. Curling. Way to go!

The
junior kindergarten classes are enjoying morning circle time and taking part in
school activities.
Mme. Brake’s
Kindergarten French Immersion class would like to say a big thank you to
Tyler’s mom, Robin Dillmon, for helping them plant their bean seeds. They are
very excited to watch them grow. They are very sad this week because their
friend, Brooke Babstock, is moving away. They will miss her and wish her luck
at her new school.
Mrs.
Hodder’s Kindergarten English class is working on the letter “L”, learning
about the butterfly life cycle and three element patterns.
Ms. Parson’s
Kindergarten English class has just finished a living and non-living unit in
science. They are starting the plant unit just in time for planting their own
perennials outside.
Mme. Ryan’s
grade one French Immersion class really enjoyed the Terry Fox walk on Thursday.
They think the school yard looks beautiful with all the new trees and flowers.
Mrs.
George’s grade one English class had fun role playing different interactions in
social studies and are making a communication collage. They made crests in
religion class that tells about their families.
Ms.
Park’s grade two class is doing research on a Canadian animal. In math they are
starting a new unit called “Numbers to 100”.
Mme.
LaChance’s grade 2 and 3 French Immersion class had lots of fun tasting
different types of apples. The class’s favourite apple was the Fuji apple. They
discovered there is a star hidden in each apple when cut horizontally. They
also made apple printings.
Mrs.
Foley’s grade three and four class are excited about beautifying the schoolyard
in honour of National Tree Day.
Mrs.
McCarthy’s grade five and six class had an awesome time at the park. The grade
5’s are excited this week to receive their band instruments and start learning
how to play. This week they have started Mathletics. Everyone had a great day
planting trees outside by the greenhouse.
Ms. Jones’ junior high and
level 1 class helped plant large trees and shrubs outside the greenhouse on
Wednesday. They are starting to think about the skills challenge competition in
November.  |
| Coming Up |
On Tuesday afternoon our students in JK-6 will be watching a Donna & Andy show from 1:30-2:30 in our school. Parents are welcome!
Student
Council elections will take place next week. Also, next week our students will
be taking part in Participation Nation activities.
Coming
up on October 4th it will be medical theme day for our school. We
are collecting money for the Western Memorial Radiothon. Also on October 4 the
vegetable orders are due.
October
6-12 is Fire Prevention week.
