All classes participated in an open house for IHMS's Greenhouse this week. Parents were invited to attend. Featured in the photo are students from Ms. Park's grade 2 class: Gavin Staples, Jorja Perrett, Keira Clarke, Will Brothers, Coen Mackey.
On our medical theme day we raised $1080! Thank
you everyone who dressed up and donated. Everyone looked awesome!
This week is Education Week, Kids Eat Smart Week
and Fire Prevention Week.
On Tuesday we had a Fire drill with the fire
fighters and on Wednesday we had a practice lock down with the police
department. Everyone did great.
On Monday we started the 5210 half marathon
challenge. We played FITGO to start the first day off.
On Tuesday the grade 4 Health Class hosted a
special Family event. Students invited their families and even their pets to
school for a special party with their teacher Ms. Scott.
On Wednesday the vegetable orders arrived. Thank
you to the junior high and level one students who helped organize them in the
cafeteria.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we had a grand opening
of the greenhouse. All the classes visited to learn about the greenhouse and
the heat pumps.
Today we are having a yummy Thanksgiving dinner
that the students at Academy Canada cooked and the parents served. Thank you
for the awesome meal!
Our Student Leadership Council organized a food
drive for the Corner Brook Food Bank. Thank you to the families that donated.

Congratulations to Mrs. McCarthy who completed
her first half marathon last Sunday!
Congratulations to our cross country runners who
participated in a running meet at Jubilee Field organized by Sacred Heart.

Class News |
The junior kindergarten classes visited the
greenhouse on Wednesday morning. They are learning all about fire prevention
this week. They are busy finishing up their thanksgiving activities.
Mme. Brake’s Kindergarten French Immersion class
is learning the letter “j”. Now they can read the word “Je”. Everyone is very excited!
In art they turned themselves into turkeys and are thankful for so much.
Mrs. Hodder’s Kindergarten English class is working
on the letter “h” with sounds, words and sentences. They are also learning
about the pilgrims and what they are thankful for.
Ms. Parson’s Kindergarten English class is
learning sight words in language. In math the class is finishing their unit on
patterns. In science they are learning about plants and finishing their turkeys
with their hand and foot prints.
Mme. Ryan’s grade one French Immersion class got a new fish. The kids are very excited. The
class are representing numbers from 1-20. They are learning about the weather
in science.
Mrs. George’s grade one English class had a
wonderful time planting seeds in the greenhouse on Thursday. They started their
spelling tests and everyone is doing really well. In math they are building
numbers in different ways.
Ms. Park’s grade two class is making bird
feeders in science. They enjoyed planting seeds this week in the greenhouse.
They are looking forward to learning all about the life cycle of plants. In
language class they are writing about how to cook a turkey.
Mme. LaChance’s grade 2 and 3 French Immersion
class was in disguise for medical theme day. They talked about the next
Halloween and they are creating a special scene with pencils and started to
work on their Halloween activity books. The grade 3 students are sending
postcards from school to a special person.
Mrs. Foley’s grade three and four class made
stress balls in health class while they were learning about how to manage
stress. They welcome a new student to their class this week. His name is
Jericho San Jose. He has moved to Corner Brook from the Philippines. They made
Thanksgiving wreathes in art class and are looking forward to the long weekend.

Mrs. McCarthy’s grade five and six class had an
awesome time on their field trip to the Chrappa Family’s home in Steady Brook
for apple picking, exploring and a camp fire on Thursday. The students were
excited to meet Mrs. McCarthy’s daughter Zoe who got to come with them. It was
a long week with assignments and quizzes and they are looking forward to the long
weekend!
Ms. Jones’ junior high and level 1 class welcomes
a new student to their class. Jarius San Jose has moved to Corner Brook from
the Philippines. The students are busy with all their classes and fundraising
for their skills challenge in November.

Coming Up |
Pink Ribbon Day for Breast Cancer is on
Wednesday. Students and teachers will be wearing pink ribbons.
The recycle my cell campaign official launch
will be on Thursday at IHMS.
