It has been a really busy week at IHMS. We would like to congratulate the winners in the Remembrance Day contest who received their certificates on Monday night. They also presented their work in chapel on Wednesday morning.

We would like to thank St. Gerard’s school for lending us the risers for our annual Christmas concert last week. The concert was a great success. Thank you to Mr. Graham and Mrs. Michael for all your hard work and thank you to our volunteers and those who donated baked goods or items for sale and to our families for supporting our big show! Also thank you to Mr. Spencer for taking wonderful photos for us during the show.

We received a $500 wellness grant for our health program, and a $1,000 Coleman’s Kids Get Active Grant. Thank you to Mr. Nadon for working on the grants. Our school also received $3,500 from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation for a project with our greenhouse. Thank you to Mrs. McCarthy and Mrs. King who worked on that proposal.

On Tuesday Keely Brothers along with other grade 6 students in the city visited locations around the city collecting food items for the food bank.

Thank you to all our families for their donations to the food bank, stockings for seniors and toys for the firefighter’s toy drive.

On Wednesday we celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in our chapel with Mrs. Coleman and the prayer group.

We also celebrated some Christmas activities this week. On Wednesday we had a school pancake breakfast, skating on Thursday sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and a school variety show in the afternoon organized by the student council.

Ms. Park’s class lit the third candle on the advent wreath on Tuesday and Mme. LaChance’s class lit the fourth candle on Wednesday.  Thank you for your beautiful prayers and celebration.

This week our ITV News reporters are: Hajra Ahmad, Simon Boitsefski, Isaac Buckingham, and Emily Murley.
We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
