Constable Robert Edwards who visited our Kindergarten French Immersion Class as a guest speaker for their unit on community helpers.

Operation Christmas Child is now over. Thank you to Mrs. George and the grade one class who organized the drive. They are busy packing up all the boxes. Also, thank you to everyone who brought in items for the drive.

Our school is participating in the school milk contest called “Catch the X”. Whenever a student buys a milk they check the bottom to see if there is an x. If there is an x they win a free milk.

We are still collecting used cell phones. This is the last week for the cell phone collection. We have two full boxes of used cell phones.

Next week in intramurals the wolves will play the panthers in polo hockey.

On Tuesday, Patrick Davis, Maria Reynolds, Nicole Keeping and Jenna Yetman visited Academy Canada with Mrs. King to say thank you for cooking our Thanksgiving dinner.

Stars of the Week

Congratulations to grade two student McKenna Batstone who was a winner in the poster contest for child advocacy week. Her poster will be printed in their annual calendar. Also, William Sullivan received an honourable mention.

Good luck goes out to Joshua Buckle, Adam Lambswood, Gavin Staples, Gordon Staples, Wesley Torraville and Peter Vaskovsky who are participating in their first minor hockey tournament this weekend.

Congratulations to figure skaters Caylie Blake, Olivia Park and Bethany Whelan who participated in a figure skating clinic last weekend. All skated very well. Caylie and Olivia were medal winners for spins and jumps.

Class News

The Junior Kindergarten classes are working on “I am special” activities.

The Kindergarten class are working on the letter “a” and learning about community helpers.

The French Immersion Kindergarten class are learning about community helpers. This week they had many guest speakers. They had a doctor, a radio broadcaster, a real estate agent and a travel agent visit their class.

The grade one class is packing boxes for Operation Christmas Child. They had a bake sale to raise money for the postage of the shoeboxes. They are subtracting and adding up to 12 in math.

The grade two class is doing a novel study on the author Robert Munsch.

The grade three and four class have finished their weebly websites. The grade fours had a math test on Thursday. They have made an eco-friendly friends club.

The grade five and six class is working hard on their grammar work. The grade 6’s wrote speeches for the YMCA Peace Week Speak Off.

The junior high class is all finished painting their media centre. They are very excited about visiting St. John’s next weekend. This week Mr. Dru Kennedy visited and helped them learn how to use their video equipment to make movies.

Coming Up

There will be two Christmas card making classes in the school cafeteria on Saturday. The first class is 11am-2pm and the second is 3pm-6pm. Registration is $20. Proceeds are for the playground project.

Also there is a gently used toy and clothing sale this Sunday, November 21 from 2 to 4 pm. Call the school for more details.

Report cards go home next week.

There will be a drop and shop on Saturday, November 27 from 10 am to 3 pm.

The mini-reporters are looking forward to decorating for Christmas!
