Family Fun day this past Saturday was a big success. Thank you to Ms. Susan Haffey, all the parents, teachers and families for making it a great day. Also, thank you to the many businesses who contributed and donated for this day. We made $2,300 for our school playground project. Everyone had lots of fun playing games, throwing pies, having their faces painted and watching JoDo the clown. Mrs. Sharon Clark won the 50/50 draw and Mr. Chris Brothers won the basket.

The grade 6 girls also played in a basketball tournament at J.J. Curling. The girls played really well. Thank you to Ms. Dutton, Mr. Whelan and Mr. Taaffe for coaching the girls.

Last week we built an outdoor slide and castle walls for our Winter Carnival sculpture. We found out on Sunday that we won for the Elementary school category. Congratulations everyone!

We had a school term 1 awards assembly and banner raising on Monday. The grade 5 basketball team had their official photo taken with the new banner. We got to see the school video made by the students called “Recycle-It’s the Thing to Do”. Many people received certificates for spelling, perfect attendance, and honours and distinction awards for junior high.

Tuesday was World Math Day. Everyone had a great time doing math activities.

On Wednesday we celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Students and teachers dressed up as characters from Dr. Seuss books and classes did Dr. Seuss activities. It was a lot of fun!
