Our Thanksgiving dinner was a great success. The dinner was delicious. Our students presented our food items to Mrs. Agnes McCarthy from the Food Bank. Thank you to all the students and families who donated items for the food drive. We had lots of food to give the food bank this year.

Monday was a public holiday. We hope you enjoyed your long weekend.
On Tuesday our school participated in the student vote for our Humber East candidates. Congratulations to Tom Marshall on being re-elected in our school and for the district! Thank you to Mrs. McHugh for organizing the voting day and to the grade 7 to level 1 students for helping set everything up. Mrs. King and Jenna Yetman were interviewed on CBC Radio about the student vote.
Also on Tuesday the grade 2 and grade 1 classes visited the insectariums. Thank you to Ms. Park for organizing the fun trip.
This week is good governance and fire prevention week. We had a fire drill on Wednesday.
We have started the Recycle My Cell drive. We are collecting used cell phones for the next month.
Mrs. Hodder officially begins her maternity leave today. We will miss you. Replacing Mrs. Hodder is Ms. Kristin Morall. Welcome to our school.


Stars of the Week

Congratulations to Anna Brake and Caylie Blake who attended a figure skating seminar this past weekend in Grand Falls.
Congratulations to Ms. Dwyer who convocated with her Bachelor of Education last Friday.

  
From The Classrooms

The junior kindergarten classes are preparing for Halloween and doing Halloween crafts.
 

Mme. Wight’s Kindergarten French Immersion class is learning the names of fruits and vegetables in French. They are also learning about plants.

Mrs. Hodder’s Kindergarten English class is learning about the letter “t” and are doing things for fire prevention week.

Ms. Dwyer’s Kindergarten English class is starting to decorate for Halloween and are learning about needs and wants.

Mme. Perez-Diaz’s grade one French Immersion class had a great time at the Insectarium on Tuesday. They learned about all different kinds of insects.

Mrs. George’s grade one English class is learning about what happens in each season. They have started their Halloween crafts. They had an awesome time at the Insectarium.

Ms. Park’s grade two class is making clay pictures in Language Arts. They really enjoyed the visit to the Insectarium.

Ms. Bennett’s grade three and four class is glad to be back from Thanksgiving break.  They really enjoyed the student vote on Tuesday.

Mrs. McCarthy’s grade five and six class is carving Halloween pumpkins today and roasting pumpkin seeds. They had a band test this week and were excited to see a real election happening in our school gym.
Mr. Hancock’s junior high and level 1 class have begun preparing for the skills challenge. They are very excited and are busy planning their trip for the end of November. In religion class they made healthy living videos.
