Congratulations to our students who attended the Western Regional Heritage Fair over the weekend. We had: Jack Watton, Ava Hodder, Israela Ngania, Luke Coleman, Lily Smallwood, Kate Murphy, Leah Lainey, Erica Kennedy, Candace Johannesen, Brooke Watton, Gabriel Rowsell, Fatima Alkhalil, Carly Johannesen, Reyd Ward, and Rebecca Janes.
Rebecca Janes received a top twenty medal and the public library award, Gabriel Rowsell won the Talk With Our Kids Abut Money Award, Erica Kennedy won the Architectural Award, Lily Smallwood won the Heritage Theme Award, Fatima Alkhalil, Carly Johannesen, and Kate Murphy won a top twenty project award.
This week our school hosted the annual orientation sessions for new Junior Kindergarten students kindergarten English and French Immersion and grade one English and French Immersion.
Today our school is going to see Seussical! We are very excited as many of our students are performing in this production.
IHMS Lion King Jr Musical is well underway! The students have been busy practicing and creating props and costumes for the big show.

Class News
The junior kindergarten classes are enjoying spring activities. The students are excited about going to see Seussical today!
Ms. Cornick’s Kindergarten class is preparing for the science fair and also the kindergarten celebration. There is lots of excitement in kindergarten!
Mrs. George’s grade one English class is busy getting all their experiments ready for the science fair on Monday. They are really excited about seeing Seussical today. Happy birthday to Ava and Zoe who both turn 7 this week!
Mme. Ryan’s grade two and three French Immersion class is writing rough drafts of space projects. Some are working on books to show their project. They are also preparing for the science fair. They have lots of plants sprouting.
Ms. Bursey’s grade two English class is finishing a unit on the environment in social studies. In math they are working with collecting data. In language arts they are learning about contractions.
Mme. King’s grade four, five and six French Immersion class is delighted to welcome Louis Wu to their class. In French, students are doing a theme on summer holidays and travel. In math, they are preparing for their next math assessment. They are excited to see Candace and Israela perform in Seussical today.
Ms. Williams’ grade three class is started a unit on nutrition in French. They learned vocabulary related to nutrition and created their own menus in French.
Mrs. Hinks’ grade four class would like to congratulate Jack Watton for representing the grade four students at the Western Regional Heritage Fair on the weekend The students are working hard preparing for the science fair. They completed their division unit in math with a final test.
Mr. Ryley’s grade five class is excited about the World Ocean’s Day activities in our school next week. They have completed their posters for the event. They are looking forward to the weather broadcast.
Mrs. McCarthy’s grade six class is writing problem and solution reports in language arts. They will present their reports in class next week. In math they are learning about area.
Mr. Drew Nadon’s grade seven and eight class is starting a history unit on World War Two. Students are completing their final subject units and preparing for exams.
Mr. Hancock’s grade nine to level three class is preparing for exams. Math 2201 students are learning about proportional reasoning. Chemistry 2202 students are learning about hydrocarbon derivatives.
Coming Up
Our school Science Fair will be held on Monday afternoon for public viewing from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
The junior high Speak Off will go ahead on Wednesday evening at 7 pm.
The grade two Reconciliation will take place on Wednesday evening at 6 pm at All Hallows.
Keira Clarke was the overall winner in the IHMS Junior High Speak Off. Keira spoke about how dance has helped her in her life.
