Visit with author Andrea Beck. In addition to reading to the children she had them act out how a book is created and eventually published. Clara Ryan (centre) is acting as the author and Jack Ryan (right) is her imagination that follows her around. In addition there is Harrison Squires (left) acting as the publisher.

On Monday author Andrea Beck visited the primary students and shared a story with them. She is the author and illustrator of Pierre Le Poof and Elliot Moose.

On Sunday, our prayer group held a special celebration called “The Divine Mercy Sunday”.

Thank you to Patrick Davis and Claire Reynolds for emceeing our spring variety show. Many students performed interesting acts. Also thank you to Andrew Dolomount for video taping. The entire school got to see the junior high’s video about our school.

This week we welcome Alicia Cross to our JK classes. She is a College of the North Atlantic student doing a work placement here.

This week is the City of Corner Brook clean-up week. Many students and staff have been out cleaning up around the school and church.

All of our students are taking part in the Wonder Active Challenge. Students are spending a few minutes a day exercising to fun music.

Our grade 4 - 9s are very excited to be in St. Pierre! They left on Tuesday and will be back on Saturday. While they are in St. Pierre they will be visiting museums, schools, the newspaper, the bakery and going swimming. We hope you are all enjoying your trip.

Stars of the Week

Congratulations to MaKayla Ianni who won first place in her age group for the Valley Mall Easter colouring contest.

Class News

The junior kindergarten classes are doing Mother’s Day activities and spending time outside in the sunshine.

The kindergarten English class is doing pictographs in math and learning about the weather in science.

The Kindergarten French Immersion class is learning how to print spring words and they are preparing for Mother’s Day. They are doing lots of physical activities in class to keep them happy and healthy.

The grade one class is doing addition sentences in math using numbers up to 20. In science they are learning about living things.

The grade two class is beginning a unit on Dinosaurs in language arts.

The grade three and four class is excited about the trip to St. Pierre. They had a fun Easter and have just completed a poster contest for World Oceans Day. On Tuesday the nurse came to talk to them about nutrition.

The grade five and six is very excited to be in St. Pierre. They hope everyone is enjoying their trip.

The junior high class is learning to play O’Canada in band class. They are enjoying their trip to St. Pierre.

Coming Up

The Kindergarten graduation pictures are being taken on Monday.

The QSP magazine fundraiser begins next week.

The May Crowing prayer celebration will be on Tuesday beginning at 12:15 at All Hallows.

Track and Field events and Soccer tournaments begin next week.

The grade 2 class’s first Holy Communion is on May 15th.
The Elementary Speak Off is being held on May 31st.

Registration for JK to Level 1 is open. There will be a French Immersion program in grade kindergarten and grade 1. Our JK and Kindergarten program is full day.
